| The story of the Cave Astrola newtonian reflectors is the story of amateur astronomy from the 1950's to probably the late 70's. My Deluxe 10" f/7 Astrola arrived with eager anticipation in the fall of 1973. Each instrument was individually prepared and mirrors expertly figured such that it took several months from the time the order was placed until shipment. I remember calling the company nearly weekly until it arrived!
The Cave Optical Co. produced what were considered among the finest instruments of their day for advanced amateurs and universities. Tom Cave, founder of Cave Optical, was a celebrated amateur and renowned planetary observer. He passed away in 2003.
